On May 28th our little Keifer had tubes put in both ears. So far I haven't been to the doctor for ear infections...I take this as a good sign.
We had the surgery done in Bountiful with a doctor that several of my family have used, with positive results. My mom had gone with us and the surgery went well. We were on our way home shortly after. I didn't eat breakfast that morning because Keifer couldn't eat anything and I didn't think it would be nice to eat in front of him.
That didn't end up being a good move. I don't remember a lot of the day, I was going to eat lunch when I got home, and somehow forgot to do that (probably the lack of food in my system). Somewhere, somehow, I lost my wedding band. The last thing I remembered was taking the rings off in Duchesne while I changed a diaper. It was gone forever! I was sure of it.
One month later, Josh had surgery on a ganglion cyst that was causing him problems. That day went a little crazy as well. We didn't make it to the hospital on time, but they were still going to rush us in, until....Josh said he'd had something to drink that morning. You have to wait for 3 hours until you can have surgery after that. Thanks Josh. I laughed at him as he complained about it being the worst day of his life having to wait for the surgery....it was his own fault.

The surgery went well and he awakened as mean as I think I've ever seen him. Which was pretty funny and I couldn't help laughing at him. Keith even tried to rescue him and then decided it was better that I continue dealing with him. He apparently didn't understand that his arm would be in a splint. That, combined with the IV in his other arm--"I can't do ANYTHING!" Again I laughed. He scowled at me as he tried to make it known he needed that thing out of his arm and he NEEDED to go HOME!
When the drugs wore off, he didn't remember being mean, and he was as nice as could be. Poor little boy. Or poor mom! At least he doesn't remember it!
The effects of the surgeries and life in between had worn on me at this point. The next day I was trying to recover from the day at the hospital. Keith received a phone call while I was in the shower....A MIRACLE! Not just any ordinary event, but an actual Miracle sent from my loving Heavenly Father. My wedding ring had been found, in a flat-bed trailer, at the dump. My brother-in-law had taken a load in his trailer to the dump and was sweeping it out when a shiny piece of jewelry caught on the edge and caught his eye. I'd been at his house the day I lost the ring because Heather had watched my children the day of Keifer's surgery. It must have flown out of my pocket as I pulled my keys out, and landed in the trailer. I didn't know this. I didn't believe it could be found. I did say a prayer that if it could be found, please let it.

I still tear up at the thought that my Heavenly Father loves me so much to give me such an experience to recognize his love for me. That he let my wedding ring be found. Because, truly, can you replace the ring given to me on the most important day of my life? I suppose you could, but it wouldn't mean the same thing. I am truly blessed, and thankful for a brother-in-law who didn't just keep sweeping...
